Reading Passages

All research-based remedial reading programs provide the learner a Reading Passages exercise, and most of these programs measure the progress in that exercise to determine progress (Curriculum based Measure or CBM.)  They also recommend that the student complete  the Reading Passages exercise at least once in every session.  In practice, the Reading Passages fluency is too often not completed because it is at the bottom of the list of important exercises, and the teacher/specialist runs out of time.

In CyberSlate, we consider Reading Passages one of the most important of all the remedial exercises, so we insist that it is completed at least twice daily, either within the remedial session, or independently. Reading Passages is a composite measure. It requires smooth integration of all of the reading skills that are taught separately, So this exercise simultaneously  provides practice in using and integrating these skills, and a measure of how well they are absorbed.

And since CyberSlate is designed for use at School and Home, this exercise can be practiced at both locations, – making every day practice possible, because it can include weekends, holidays, and summer vacations.
