Fluent Auditory Discrimination (FAD) presents a set of fluencies designed to help a non-reader who has not yet learned to discriminate between many of the sounds of the English language, or to attach a symbol to each sound. The student first learns four consonants and one vowel, then practices symbol identification and saying sound combinations until these are mastered. New signs and sounds are added at each level, with intense practice of sounds, words, and sentences using these few selections. A Tracking fluency develops the student’s ability to take sounds out of words, insert them, and switch them around.
A coach who will be assisting the student in the FAD fluencies requires intensive training in techniques designed to help the student concentrate on the discrimination tasks. Email us for more details.
